Slovenia is full of amazing architectural gems. Like all old cities, it was built around a river, and a hill upon which is perched a castle. Graced by centuries of Viennese, Hungarian and Italian cultural influences, it is a great example of the best of central European civic design.

Walking around Ljubljana reminds us of just how beautifully we used to build. And many examples are not even that old. The Vienna Secession style, which is very common, is just over a century old. 

Architecture is the most public of art. You look at it whether you want to or not. You can change a radio station, but you cannot change the building in front of you. And so it is arguably the most important of all art. The best architecture lifts the spirit. It makes one look up at the things above. Let us go, then, onwards and upwards.
