“So why are you here?”

This is a question often asked of us when we meet new people in this beautiful country.

He is Slovenian. She is Canadian. We have a couple of Canadian/Slovenian kids

Kate is an award-winning photojournalist from Ottawa, the capital of Canada. She worked for multiple newspapers, ran a photography business, and taught first aid. One day would be spent teaching aircraft mechanics how to tie a sling in the Arctic, the next would be spent as the official photographer for Desmond Tutu during a visit to Canada.

Robert is a musician - touring with an international calypso band - with an eye for architecture and all things beautiful. I thought it might be a good thing to show Slovenia to people here and abroad through fresh eyes. There is so much interesting history and design here. Let's repackage it, re-present it. Having lived in several countries, I can see what this place has, in its built and natural environment. This is our modest attempt at representing the beauty of Slovenia. To Slovenians themselves, and people abroad.

Which brings us back to that first question. Why are we here?

Simply put, we love it here. The country is small, but the impact is huge. Ljubljana has everything you need, but it does not feel overwhelming. In one hour, you can be somewhere entirely different. The Adriatic Sea, the mountains, or even another country.
